Kalns Ltd.'s work with Swedbank AS in Latvia began in 1996 — two years after the workshop was founded. Since then we have designed and installed fit-outs for several Swedbank branches across Latvia — from Jūrmala and Riga to regional centres.
Nature of the collaboration
Our task has been to design and fabricate furniture specific to bank working spaces — customer service counters, private consultation rooms, staff desks, and storage systems. Every branch is different spatially, so every project is individual — one design principle, adapted to the particularities of each room.
Materials and finish
The primary material has been solid oak — its strength and longevity match the demands placed on rooms with heavy visitor traffic. For worktops we use high-grade laminates that stand up to daily use. Veneered panels — both in customer zones and in closed rooms — bring warmth and the natural grain of wood to the space.
Twenty years of durability
Many of our earliest Swedbank installations remain in use with no significant defects — evidence of the choice of materials and the quality of fabrication. The collaboration continues in the design of new branches and the modernisation of existing ones.
