Children's furniture — safe, sturdy, grows with them.
Children's furniture is a particular challenge: it must be safe, robust enough to withstand daily play, and ideally able to grow with the child. We build children's furniture in solid birch and ash, finished only with food-safe oils and waxes. No formaldehyde, no synthetic lacquer fumes.
Lead time
4–6 weeks
Price
Individual pieces from €1,500; complete children's rooms from €4,500
Safety first
Rounded edges, wall-fixing brackets, soft-close sliding mechanisms, no exposed sharp details. All metal hardware is placed internally so children never come into direct contact with it.
Furniture that grows
Several of our designs have adjustable heights — beds and desks can be adapted step by step as the child grows. This reduces the need to replace furniture every few years.
Materials and finish
Birch (our local wood) and ash — both light, calmly grained, well suited to a child's room. We finish only with food-safe waxes and oils that emit no toxic fumes.
Materials for this project
The wood we use.
Birch
Birch (Betula pendula) is the local timber of Latvia and the wider Baltic region. Its even grain, pale tone, and moderate price make birch furniture a natural choice for everyday projects — from children's-room furniture to cost-conscious bedroom carcasses. It is also ecologically sound, as we source it from local suppliers.
Ash
Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) is among the most flexible of European timbers — its ability to take load without breaking makes it the first choice for projects involving steam-bent details: chair backs, table legs, handles. Ash's light tone and even grain also sit beautifully in contemporary interiors that prefer to move away from oak's pronounced figure.
Pine
Pine (Pinus sylvestris) is the traditional softwood of Latvia and Northern Europe. Its warm, resinous tone and ease of working make it the choice for country interiors, summer houses, and cost-conscious projects. For a pine piece to last, the finish is decisive — traditionally a wax or a natural oil that lifts the wood's figure.
